Vape delivery is a fast-growing service in Canada — it's faster than a vape shop trip for most GTA addresses, gives access to a deeper catalogue, and works around in-store flavour-display restrictions in Quebec. But because vape products are nicotine-restricted, the delivery experience has a few quirks that don't apply to regular e-commerce. This guide walks you through every common scenario.
The handoff itself
Three things happen in this order:
- Driver buzzes / knocks / calls when they arrive.
- You show ID — government-issued photo ID showing 19+ (Ontario) or 18+ (Quebec).
- Driver hands over the package.
Everything between buzz and handoff takes about 30-60 seconds. ID check is mandatory by federal law (TVPA) — there's no skipping it.
Common scenarios
Concierge buildings (downtown Toronto condos, etc.)
Two paths:
- You're home: Driver requests buzz-up + hand-off at unit.
- You're not home, concierge accepts: Driver hands package to concierge with your name on the order. Building policy varies — some concierges require ID-check before releasing the package to you when you arrive home; some don't. Check with your building.
If the concierge refuses to accept restricted-product deliveries, the package returns to depot for re-attempt. Add a note to the order ("Building accepts; or if not, leave at door — I'm home") to clarify intent.
You're not home and there's no concierge
Driver attempts buzz / knock for ~3 minutes. If no answer, they call the phone number on the order. If still no answer, the package returns to depot. We re-attempt the next business day at no extra cost. After 2 failed re-attempts, the order is held at depot for pickup or refund.
Tip: Add a phone number you'll actually answer at the order's delivery time. The driver will call before returning to depot.
Houses (no buzzer)
Driver knocks at the front door + calls phone if no answer. If no one's home, package returns to depot.
Many customers add a delivery note like "Knock loud, dog barks" or "Use side gate, package theft has happened" — drivers read these and adjust.
Workplaces / offices
Allowed if you'll be there to ID-check. Many of our GTA same-day customers schedule delivery to work between 1-4 PM (lunch / mid-afternoon window).
Note: some employers have policies against on-site nicotine product delivery. Check before sending.
Hotels / Airbnb
Allowed if you ID-check at the door. Some hotels have policies against guest-room deliveries from external services — the front desk may hold the package and require you to come down. Confirm with hotel before scheduling.
Apartment buildings without doormen
Driver buzzes the unit code. You buzz them in, then they come to your door. If buzzer is broken, driver calls phone instead.
Important: Drivers won't leave packages in lobbies, mailrooms, or at door without an ID check. Federal compliance — there are no exceptions.
Payment options at handoff
- Pre-paid online (most common): credit/debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay at checkout. Driver doesn't handle payment; just ID-check + handoff. Fastest experience.
- Cashless payment (GTA same-day only): pay the driver in card. Bring exact change if possible.
- Interac e-Transfer (GTA same-day only): send to driver's email at handoff. Their app confirms receipt.
Order timing — when to order for fastest delivery
| If you want… | Order by | You receive… |
|---|---|---|
| 30-min downtown Toronto | Any time during store hours | 30 minutes |
| Same-day GTA (Mississauga, Brampton, Etobicoke, etc.) | 12 PM EST Mon-Fri | 2-6 PM same day |
| Hamilton / Oakville (further GTA) | 12 PM EST Mon-Fri | 3-6 PM same day |
| Greater Montreal Region | 12 PM EST Mon-Thu | Next business day |
| Rest of Canada | 4 PM EST any day | 1-7 business days (Canada Post / UPS) |
Orders placed after the cutoff default to next business day. Weekend orders (Sat-Sun) ship Monday.
What happens if your order is delayed
Delays come from three sources:
- Volume: we batch GTA same-day deliveries by zone. Mid-month and weekend orders move slightly slower than mid-week off-peak.
- Address verification: if the address is incomplete (no unit number, wrong postal code), the driver may need to call you mid-route — adds 5-15 minutes.
- Weather: in extreme weather (Toronto blizzards, Montreal ice storms), all deliveries pause until conditions are safe. We never ship through actively-dangerous weather.
You'll get an email + (if you opted in) SMS update if delivery slips outside the typical window. Tracking link in every email.
Returns + missed deliveries
- Missed delivery: automatic re-attempt next business day at no charge.
- Wrong product received: email info@vapestoredelivery.ca within 48 hours with order number + photo. We'll send the correct product + arrange return of the wrong one.
- Product defective: see Shipping & Returns — sealed defective items get replaced or refunded per manufacturer warranty.
- Changed your mind: 30-day returns on unopened items. Free return label.
Etiquette tips for first-time customers
- Have ID ready before the driver arrives. 30-second handoff vs 2 minutes of fumbling.
- Add a useful delivery note. "Apartment 4B, side door" or "Concierge accepts, name is John" makes the driver's job easier.
- Be patient with first-time GTA same-day cutoff. Order before 12 PM means the driver leaves the depot at ~12:30; arrival depends on which neighbourhood.
- If you have multiple people in the household: only the order-name-holder can ID-check (federal compliance). If you won't be home, the order should be in the name of someone who will be.
FAQ
Do I tip the driver?
Tipping isn't expected for vape delivery — drivers are paid a salary + per-delivery rate, not tip-dependent. Some customers tip $2-5 card for exceptional service (e.g. weather delivery, last-minute order). Whatever feels right.
Can I refuse the delivery at the door?
Yes — if you change your mind at handoff, you can refuse delivery. Driver returns the package to depot, we issue a full refund (minus the $4.99 delivery fee in GTA same-day cases). Email us if there's an issue.
Can someone else accept my order if they're 19+?
No — federal compliance requires the order-name-holder to ID-check at handoff. The order is in your name; only you can sign for it. If you need flexibility, place the order in the name of whoever will be home.
What if the driver delivers to the wrong address?
Email us within 24 hours. We track each delivery's GPS handoff point and can confirm with the driver. Resolution typically same-day: redelivery to correct address or full refund.
Can I track my order in real-time?
For GTA same-day: yes, live tracking link sent by SMS 30 minutes before delivery. For Greater Montreal next-day and Canada Post / UPS shipments: standard carrier tracking via email link.
